路面清掃報告「外周路は完了しました」/ Road Cleaning Report. "Outer Path Completed"

12月9日、赤穂市の交通公園の路面清掃作業を行ない、公園管理の方々の作業もあり、目標に進めてきた外周路を全て清掃完了できました。
On December 9th, we conducted road surface cleanup at Ako City's Traffic Park. With the help of park management, we were able to complete the entire outer perimeter path, which we had been working toward.

『 草くずは回収されました / Weed debris was removed. 』

前回の清掃の際、公園周辺部と公園内部の緑地の草刈りが行なわれていて、その “草くず” がコースの路面上にも落ちている事を報告しましたが、今回の清掃日、その “草くず” の回収作業が行なわれました。その回収作業の責任者の方や清掃作業の方々に丁寧いに対応して下さったお陰で、路面上は、ほぼ綺麗になりました。これで、練習走行を行なう際に "草くず" を心配する必要は無くなりました。お世話様でした。残る路面の仕上げは私達が行ないます。

During the previous cleaning, grass was mowed around the park's perimeter and in the park's green spaces, and we reported that the resulting grass debris had fallen onto the course surface. On this cleaning day, the grass debris was removed. Thanks to the careful work of the removal team and the cleaning crew, the road surface is now almost completely clean. Now, we no longer need to worry about grass debris during practice runs. Thank you for your help. We will be taking care of the remaining road surface.

『 草たちの浸食力 / The erosive power of grass 』

アスファルト舗装の路面であっても、草たちが浸食して舗装を破壊している事は以前からお伝えしている通りですが、この公園のエリアによって被害は異なります。そして、今回の清掃エリアは、公園の中で最も土砂の堆積が大きいエリアだった事もあり、草によって舗装路面が深く破壊されている箇所がありました。今回は、草の除去を行ないましたが、春になれば、この箇所から草が間違いなく伸びてくるでしょう。だからこそ、地下茎を可能な限り除去しています。

As we have previously reported, grass can erode even asphalt-paved roads, destroying them. However, the extent of the damage varies depending on the area of ​​the park. Furthermore, this cleaning area had the greatest sediment accumulation in the park, and there were areas where the pavement had been deeply damaged by grass. Although we removed the grass this time, we're certain that new grass will grow back in these areas come spring. That's why we're removing as many rhizomes as possible.

『 今回の清掃結果 / Cleanup Results 』

今回の清掃は、"草くず" の回収をされた方々の丁寧な作業を直接拝見する事が出来て、この公園の維持管理に多くの人々が努力されている事を実感して、とても気持ち良く清掃作業が行なえました。その影響もあり、今回は 43㎡ ものエリアの清掃ができました。ありがとうございました。

『 外周路の清掃完了 / Outer Path Completed 』

交通公園にとっての外周路は、練習などの講習会が行なわれる際、受講生の移動用通路として欠かせない大切な通路です。しかし、長年、講習会などが開催されていない事もあり、清掃を始める前の外周路は、草たちが繁茂して自然感あふれる状態で、安心して利用できる状態ではありませんでした。

The outer perimeter path at Traffic Park is an essential pathway for participants to travel during training sessions and other seminars. However, because no seminars or other events had been held there for many years, the outer perimeter path was overgrown with grass and looked very natural, making it unsafe to use before we began cleaning.

そこで、2024年12月から外周路の清掃を始めたのですが、横を流れる河川の氾濫によって、公園全体が幾度が浸水した事もあり、外周路に堆積した土砂は予想以上の厚みと広さに広がっていました。その為、想定以上の日数は掛かりましたが、ほぼ一年を掛けて外周路全ての清掃を完了しました。

Therefore, we began cleaning the outer perimeter road in December 2024. However, due to the river flowing alongside the park flooding several times, the sediment accumulated on the road was thicker and more widespread than expected. As a result, it took longer than expected, but we completed the entire road cleaning over the course of almost a year.

『 次回の清掃目標 / Next Target 』

次回の清掃は、公園の北東角（コース図の左上）にある「ロータリー」エリアにします。春になればツツジが満開になる綺麗なエリアですが、その路面部分は決して綺麗ではありません。アスファルト路面を浸食した草たちが深く根を張った、この公園で最も路面が傷んだエリアです。定期的な草刈り作業は行なわれていますが、地下茎が残っている限り、草たちの浸食は止められません。舗装路面を割って崩壊させた地下茎は、春になると、一気に葉を伸ばして更に舗装路面を壊し続けます。だから、地下茎を取り除く少しハードな作業になるでしょう。

The next cleanup will be the "rotary" area in the northeast corner of the park (upper left of the course map). It's a beautiful area where azaleas bloom in spring, but the road surface is far from pristine. This is the most damaged area in the park, with deep roots of grasses that have eroded the asphalt surface. Regular mowing is carried out, but as long as the rhizomes remain, the grass erosion will continue. The rhizomes that crack and destroy the pavement surface rapidly grow leaves in the spring, further damaging the pavement. Therefore, removing the rhizomes will be a somewhat arduous task.

今回の外周路清掃の完了によって、清掃が完了したエリアの合計は 1768 ㎡になり、そのエリアの清掃・保全作業の合間を見ながらになりますが、「ロータリー」エリアの復活を目指して、数回に分けて清掃作業を行なっていきます。

With the completion of this outer road cleaning, the total area cleaned has reached 1,768 m2. We will continue cleaning in several stages, taking into account gaps in cleaning and maintenance work in those areas, with the aim of restoring the "rotary" area.

路面清掃報告「草くず残る公園で」/ Road Cleaning Report. "Grass Debris Remains on the Road"

12月1日、草刈りされた後の「草くず」が路面に広がる、赤穂市の交通公園の路面清掃作業を行ない、外周路を約 34㎡ 清掃完了しました。
On December 1st, we conducted road cleaning work at Ako City's Traffic Park, where grass debris remains after mowing. We completed cleaning approximately 34 square meters of the outer road.

『 草くず残る公園 / Abandoned Grass Debris 』

この公園は河川敷に設置されているので、年に3回ほど、河川敷の草地の草刈りと同時に、公園内の草地の草刈りが行なわれます。ただ、その際の「草くず」が路面上に残されている事が多く、路面清掃作業の前に、「草くず」の除去作業から始めました。ただ、「草くず」は公園の路面全体に残っていて、それらを除去するには数週間ほど掛かりますので、公園で練習される際には、清掃・除去されたエリアを選んで安全に行なってください。

This park is located on a riverbed, so the grass within the park is mowed approximately three times a year at the same time as the riverbed. However, this often leaves grass debris on the road. Therefore, we began by removing the grass debris before the road cleaning work. However, grass debris remains throughout the park's roads, and it takes several weeks to remove it. Therefore, when practicing in the park, please choose an area that has been cleaned and removed for safety.

『 草の根から除去 / Removing from the Roots 』

清掃作業をしていると、「路面清掃」と「草刈り」と混同される事がありますが、目指している作業は大きく異なります。というのは、「路面清掃」では路面を長期間に亘って良好に保つ事を目指しているので、「草の根」から除去を目指しているからです。「草刈り」の場合は、根や茎を残す事になり、直ぐに再生を始めますし、草の根によるアスファルト路面の浸食被害を抑える事が不可能だからです。

When working on cleaning, "road cleaning" and "grass mowing" are sometimes confused, but the tasks they aim for are very different. This is because road cleaning aims to maintain road surfaces in good condition for the long term, so it removes grass roots first. Mowing leaves roots and stems behind, which quickly regrow and make it impossible to prevent erosion of asphalt surfaces caused by grass roots.

『 公園最大の土砂溜まり / Largest Dirt Pool Pool 』

今回、交通公園に残されt「公園最大の土砂溜まり」の一部の除去・清掃を行ないましたので、その箇所を画像でご覧ください。一部、顔を出している縁石や、画像の奥に映っているオートバイと較べるとその厚みと大きさが分かるでしょう。そして、問題なのは、「なぜ、ここに、こんなに大きな土砂溜まりが出来たのか？」です。恐らく、風によって砂や小石などの吹き溜まりだった事の他に、草刈り後の「草くず」も清掃されずに長年溜まり続け、それが土砂の蓄積に役立っただけでなく、芝などの草にとっての肥料にもなったので、こんなに大きな土砂溜まりになったのでしょう。実際、除去作業をしてみると、土砂溜まりの中は草たちの太い根が縦横無尽に絡み合い、その根がアスファルト路面を浸食・崩壊させている事がよく判ります。だから、大きな土砂溜まりは当然の事、小さな土砂溜まりでも、草の根から除去する事がとても大切なのです。

We recently removed and cleaned a portion of the "largest dirt pool in the park" left behind in Traffic Park. Please see the image below. You can see its thickness and size by comparing it with the protruding curb and the motorcycle in the background of the image. The question then becomes, "Why did such a large dirt pool form here?" It's likely that in addition to the accumulation of sand and pebbles caused by wind, the grass debris left behind after mowing also accumulated for many years without being cleaned up. This not only contributed to the accumulation of dirt, but also served as fertilizer for grass and other plants, resulting in such a large dirt pool. In fact, during the removal work, we clearly saw that the thick grass roots were intertwined in all directions within the mud puddles, eroding and destroying the asphalt surface. This is why it's so important to remove grass roots, not just large mud puddles, but even small ones.

『 今回の清掃結果 / Today’s Results 』

今回の清掃では、この時期特有の朝の冷え込みはありましたが、日中は晴れて気温が上昇した事も幸いして、予定以上に広い面積を清掃する事が出来ました。

This time of year, we experienced chilly mornings, typical of this time of year, but we were fortunate to have sunny days and warmer temperatures during the day, allowing us to clean a larger area than planned.

『 次回の清掃目標 / Next Target 』

今回の清掃の結果で、年内の目標としていた外周路の清掃完了を達成できそうです。外周路清掃だけでほぼ一年かかりましたが、間違いなく、以前よりも安全な練習環境になります。次回の清掃では、一部、一年前に清掃したエリアと重なりますが、以前よりも、縁石から 5-10㎝ 離れた草地の除去も行ない、長期間、草たちの路面への進入を防ぐ予定です。

It took almost a year just to clean the outer track, but it will undoubtedly create a safer practice environment. 路面清掃報告「新規利用者との出会い」/ Road Cleaning Report "Meeting New Users"

休日だった11月24日、赤穂市 交通公園の路面清掃は、新しい利用者の方々と出会う事が出来た喜びの中、公園の外周路 約25㎡ の清掃をしました。
On November 24th, a national holiday, we cleaned the roads at Ako City Traffic Park, cleaning approximately 25 square meters of the park's outer path, enjoying the joy of meeting new users.


『 新規利用の方々/ New Users 』

2023年3月、路面全体に小石や砂が乗り、縁石部や舗装の割れ目には土砂が溜まって芝や草が茂って、安全に練習は出来なかった交通公園の路面清掃を清掃を始めて1年と半年余り、初めて、利用に訪れた6名もの方に会う事が出来ました。 清掃を完了したエリアが増えた事が影響していると思いますが、今年に入ってから、時々、親子で自転車の練習に利用される方々は見掛けたのですが、オートバイの練習の為に訪れる方は少なかったので、今回は記念の一日になりました。

『 外周路の清掃 / Clean the Outer Road 』

今回も公園の外周路の清掃をしました。
草や土砂だけではなく、路面上の小さな小石も綺麗に取り除いている為、一日の作業で清掃できる広さは限られていますが、確実に安全な路面状況を目指して進めています。

This time, we cleaned the outer perimeter path of the park again.
Since we were removing not only grass and dirt but also small pebbles from the road surface, the area that can be cleaned in one day was limited, but we were working toward ensuring safe road conditions.

『 縁石部の土砂と草 / Dirt and Grass on the Curb 』

外周路は公園を取り巻く草地から土砂や草が一番多く侵入してくる場所です。しかも、一度清掃しても、暫くすると、再び侵入してくる事は経験済みですから、多めに土砂と草の撤去をしています。縁石から約10㎝ 離れた地点から土砂と草を撤去しているのです。これで、再度侵入するまでの期間を長くする事が出来るでしょう。

The outer road is the area where the most dirt and grass invades from the grassy areas surrounding the park. Furthermore, we have experienced that even if we clean once, they will come back after a while, so we remove a lot of dirt and grass. We remove dirt and grass from a point about 10 cm away from the curb. This will hopefully lengthen the time before they come back.

『 公園内部の縁石部 / Curbs inside the Park 』

外周部と較べると酷くないのですが、公園内部の縁石部も土砂が溜まり草が茂りやすい場所です。そして、多くの場合、縁石と路面との隙間に草の根が張っていて、その根の働きによって路面の舗装が浸食され、崩壊している場所も少なくありません。清掃で出来る事は多くありませんが、その隙間で張った地下茎を可能な限り除去しています。

Although not as bad as the perimeter, the curbs inside the park are also prone to soil accumulation and grass overgrowth. Furthermore, grass roots often grow in the gaps between the curb and the road surface, causing erosion and collapse in many areas. While there's not much we can do by cleaning, we are removing as many of the rhizomes that have grown in these gaps as possible.

以上の清掃で外周路 を約8m 余り、約 25㎡ のエリアがより安全になりました。

路面清掃報告「冬カットの公園」/ Park after Winter Cutting

11月18日、“冬カット” された赤穂市 交通公園の路面清掃は、気分が盛り上がって、公園の外周路 約30㎡ の清掃になりました。
On November 18th, the road cleaning at Ako City Traffic Park, which had been "winter-cut," was done with great enthusiasm, and participants cleaned approximately 30 square meters of the park's outer road.

実は、清掃に行った前日、公園に数多く植えられている生垣（灌木）が庭師さんによって剪定されて、公園全体がとてもすっきりした印象になっていました。
In fact, the day before I went to clean, the gardener had pruned the park's many hedges (shrubs), giving the entire park a much neater look.

『 少し年配の人 / A Slightly Older Person 』

公園を清掃していると様々な人と顔見知りになります。今回は、今までに何度がお話をさせて戴いている方とお会い出来ました。「おはよう～～」と、いつもと同じ様に大きな声を掛けてくれた方は、いつもと同じ様に公園の横を通ってウォーキングの途中でした。しかし、以前とは異なり、防寒対策としてダウンジャケットを羽織り、いつもより少しふっくらとした姿になっていました。そうです、ここ赤穂では神戸や大阪などの都会地よりも冬が一足先にやって来ます。どうぞ、風邪などを召されず、また元気に声を掛けて下さい。それが、この清掃の力にもなるのです。

外周路の清掃を完了させる事は大切です。実際、自転車などの講習会が行なわれる場面を想定すれば、公園の中央部で交差する 2本の直線路の他に、講習を受ける人々の移動路として外周路は欠かせないからです。そして、今回の清掃後、外周路の未清掃部は 約25ｍ、75㎡ ほどです。きっと、後 3回の清掃で完了できるでしょうし、年内中に完了させたいと考えております。

路面清掃報告「雨後の公園」/ Road Cleaning Report: “Post-Rain”

11月10日、前日に降った雨で路面や草地が濡れている中、赤穂市 交通公園の路面清掃活動を行ない、公園の外周路 約23㎡ の清掃をしました。

On November 10th, we cleaned approximately 23 square meters of the perimeter road at Ako City Traffic Park while the pavement and grassy areas were still wet from the previous day's rain.

『 雨後の公園 / Post-Rain 』

昨日は雨が降り、公園の清掃に少し影響がありました。
良い点は、土砂が固まって取り除きやすく、土ぼこりが舞い上がり難い点です。ただ、一見良い事ばかりに聴こえますが、水を含んでいるので運搬する土砂が重くなる点は要注意です。また、撮影用のマーク地点を路面上にガムテープを張り付けているのですが、路面上の水分で剝がれやすく、清掃後の撮影ポイントがずれてしまい、撮影画像の多くが無駄になってしまいました。

『 植物たちの争い / Plant Conflict 』

この交通公園では、植物たちも安心できる環境ではありません。
公園の内部や外周部には、ツツジなどが生垣の様に植えてあるのですが、簡単な剪定が行なわれているだけからなのか、当初は無かった筈の様々な樹木（灌木）や草たちが 生垣の中から伸びてきているのです。そして、それらの後からやって来た植物に直射光や栄養を奪われるからなのか、一部では枯れてしまいそうな箇所もあります。可能な限りは助けますので、どうぞ、元気に春を迎えて下さい。

Azaleas and other plants are planted like hedges inside and around the park, but perhaps due to simple pruning, various trees (shrubs) and plants that were not originally there are now sprouting from the hedges. 『 縁石の大切さ / Importance of Curbs 』

長年、全国各地の様々なトレーニング用コースを走った経験がある僕にとって、コースの縁石はとても大切な存在です。縁石は、コースの全幅を示す指標であり、トレーニング走行時の走行ラインの選択の自由度をはっきりと示してくれる存在だからです。だから、安心して充実した練習環境を提供する為に、この交通公園で土砂や草に覆われてしまっている縁石の発掘作業が重要だと考えているのです。

Having run on various training courses across the country for many years, I know how crucial curbs are. They serve as markers indicating the full width of the course and clearly define the freedom of choice for your running line during training runs. That's why I believe excavating the curbs buried under dirt and grass at this traffic park is essential to providing a safe and fulfilling training environment.

『 今回の成果 / Results 』

今回の清掃では、幅3ｍ の 外周路を長さ 8ｍ余り、約 23㎡にわたり、路面上の小石や砂、土砂の清掃の他、縁石周囲の草の除去、そして生垣の灌木を覆う様に生えていた草の除去を行ない、画像では伝えきれませんが、とても良い路面になりました。

This cleanup covered a 3m-wide outer path over 8m in length, or approximately 23m². We removed pebbles, sand, and dirt from the road surface, as well as grass around the curbs and weeds that had overgrown the hedges. While it's difficult to do justice to the images, the result is a very good road surface.

次回の目標は、今回の清掃エリアに続く外周路で、約 22㎡のエリアを清掃する予定です。そのエリアが完了すれば、過去に清掃済みの中央大通りと繋がり、外周路で未清掃のエリアは 80㎡弱、約 3日の清掃で外周路エリアの清掃が完了する見込みなので。年内完了を目指してやっていきます。
どうぞ、赤穂市や近くにお住まいの方、またはツーリングでお越しの方は、軽く練習を兼ねて、赤穂市交通公園をご利用下さい。自転車や二輪車専用の施設で、個人利用の場合は、事前予約や利用料金は不要です。

路面清掃報告「秋の清掃」/ Road Cleaning Report: “Autumn Cleanup”

 
11月4日、秋の色が濃くなってきた赤穂市 交通公園の路面清掃活動を行ない、公園の外周路 約21㎡ の清掃をしました。

On November 4th, as the autumn colors began to deepen, we carried out a road cleaning activity at Ako City Traffic Park, cleaning approximately 21 ㎡ of the park's outer road.

夏の時期には、公園を取り囲む草地の草が伸び伸びと育つだけではありません。公園内の舗装された路面でさえ、舗装の継ぎ目を押し広げる様に、草たちが密集して一斉に伸びて来るので、一度清掃した箇所でさえやり直しが必要になります。ただ、今は秋なので、それらの草たちの勢いは少し衰えるので少し楽になります。しかし、意外な伏兵に手を焼かされています。

In the summer, not only does the grass surrounding the park grow freely, but even on the paved roads within the park, grass grows densely and all at once, pushing out the seams in the pavement, meaning even areas that have already been cleaned once have to be redone. However, now that it's autumn, the grass has slowed down a bit, making things a little easier. However, we're having trouble with an unexpected unexpected enemy.

公園の周囲を取り囲む様に植えられている灌木の隙間から、ススキなのかオギなのか、細長い葉を空に向けて高く伸びて来るのです。当然、路面の上にまで浸食して来ている草たちは根こそぎ除去しますが、背丈が 1.5ｍ以上に伸びて、路面上に覆いかぶさって来る草も意外に邪魔な存在なのです。だから、灌木の間に手を入れて、根こそぎ引き抜いています。

Currently, we're focusing on cleaning the park's outer path, but there are still many areas of the park's interior that have yet to be touched, where pebbles, sand, and other gravel have accumulated. Once the outer path is cleaned, we plan to move on to cleaning the interior of the park.

公園内を十字型に横切っている太い通路は、以前から、繰り返し路面清掃を繰り返していますので、赤穂市や近くにお住まいの方、またはツーリングでお越しの方は、軽く練習を兼ねて、赤穂市交通公園をご利用下さい。自転車や二輪車専用の施設で、個人利用の場合は、事前予約や利用料金は不要です。

The wide pathway that crosses the park in a crisscross pattern has been repeatedly cleaned, so if you live in Ako City or nearby, or are visiting on a tour, please use Ako City Traffic Park as a place to do some light practice. 今年も残り2か月足らずとなりました。残す外周路も 50m足らず、150㎡ ほどになりました。あと 7日程度は必要ですが、今年中には完了させたいと思っています。では、また報告します。

路面清掃報告「40日ぶりの再開」/ Road Cleaning Report: “Resuming After 40 Days”

10月28日、約40日ぶりに、赤穂市 交通公園の路面清掃活動を行ない、公園の外周路 約20㎡ の清掃をしました。

On October 28th, after approximately 40 days, we conducted road cleaning activities at Ako City Traffic Park, cleaning the outer perimeter road covering about 20 square meters.

8月上旬、メインで稼働させていた PC が破損し、8月下旬には 新規自作PC を投入したのですが、破損以前のシステム利用環境への完全復旧作業と、同時に 最新の基本OS へと切り替えた事もあり、予想以上に PC関連作業に多くの時間を割く必要がありました。その為、路面清掃作業は一時的に中断する事になったのです。

In early August, the main PC we were using broke down. By late August, we had deployed a new custom-built PC. However, restoring the system environment to its pre-breakdown state and simultaneously switching to the latest base OS required significantly more time than anticipated for PC-related tasks. Consequently, the road surface cleaning work had to be temporarily suspended.





こうして、PC作業環境は以前よりも良くなりましたが、季節は大きく変わってしまいました。前回は、酷暑による熱中症を避ける為に、朝6時から作業を始めたのですが、今はその必要はありません。逆に、朝の気温が 7℃ と低いので、太陽が高く昇った時間帯に作業を行なっています。寒さに慣れていない身体にとっては、まるで冬が来た様に感じられる季節になってしまいました。

While the PC work environment is now better than before, the season has changed significantly. Last time, we started work at 6 AM to avoid heatstroke in the intense summer heat, but that's no longer necessary. Conversely, with morning temperatures now as low as 7°C (45°F), we work when the sun is high in the sky. For bodies unaccustomed to the cold, it feels like winter has arrived.





それでも、8月の酷暑の中での作業よりは身体的な負担は小さくて助かっています。また、植物の生育速度も 6～8月当時よりも遅くなり、清掃＆草抜き作業の効果が長続きして、作業を行なった者の達成感も長続きするのは嬉しい事です。

Still, the physical strain is less than working in August's intense heat, which is a relief. Additionally, plant growth has slowed compared to June-August, meaning the effects of cleaning and weeding last longer. This extends the sense of accomplishment for those who worked, which is very satisfying.

次回の清掃目標は、今回に続く交通公園の外周路です。このまま順調に作業が続けば、12月には外周路は全て清掃が完了しそうです。

The next target is the outer perimeter road of the Traffic Park, following this section. If work continues smoothly, the entire perimeter road should be cleaned by December.

路面清掃報告「コーナークリア」/ Road Cleaning Report: ”Corner Clear”

８月14日、赤穂市 交通公園の路面清掃を 朝6時から11時半まで行ないました。
On August 14th, we cleaned the roads at Ako City Traffic Park from 6:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

今回のエリアは公園の角地の為、土砂が厚く堆積していて、土砂の除去と搬送に手間が掛かり、清掃エリアは 15㎡に留まりました。しかし、外周路清掃の旅も、これで四つの角地は全て終わったので、外周路清掃のゴールが見えてきました。あと6〜7日で外周路の清掃が終わりそうです。シンコペーションな気持ちになっています。

Because the area we cleaned was a corner of the park, there was a thick layer of sediment. Removing and transporting the sediment required a lot of work, and we only managed to clean a 15-square-meter area. However, now that we've completed all four corners of the perimeter road, our goal is in sight. It looks like we'll be done with the perimeter road in about 6-7 days. I'm feeling syncopated.

路面清掃とは直接の関係はありませんが、今回、新しい素敵な人と出会うという予感が実現しました。その人は、時々見掛けていたジョギングをする人で、出会うと、遠くから 「おはよ〜」と大きな声で挨拶してくれて、僕はいつも手を挙げて応えていた人ですが、今日は、その人のジョギングコース近くを清掃していたので、間近で、しっかりと顔を合わせてお話が出来ました。また世の中が少し広くなりました。

While this isn't directly related to the road cleaning, my premonition of meeting a wonderful new person came true. This person was a jogger I'd occasionally spotted. Whenever we'd meet, he'd greet me loudly from afar, saying "Good morning!" and I'd always raise my hand in response. Today, I was cleaning near his jogging path, so we were able to meet up close and have a proper face-to-face conversation. The world has become a little broader for me.

そして、次回の清掃目標は、下の画像の通り、外周路で最後の直線路です。この直線路を終えるには 6日から7日、またはそれ以上が必要になりますが、綺麗になった様子を想像すればやる気が湧いてきます。

The next cleaning goal is the final straight section of the outer perimeter, as shown in the image below. It will take six to seven days or more to complete this straight section, but just imagining how clean it will look will motivate me.

路面清掃でリフレッシュ / The Road Cleaning made Me feel Refreshed

８月14日、赤穂市 交通公園の路面清掃を行ないました。
前回の清掃エリアに隣接している外周路、約24㎡を、5時30分 から 10時30分で終えました。また、通常は報告していませんが、過去に清掃を完了しているとエリアの再清掃を12時まで行ないましたが、やはり、外に出て身体を動かすのは良いですね。

On August 14th, the road surface of Ako City Transportation Park was cleaned.
We completed the outer circumference, approximately 24 m2, adjacent to the previous cleaning area, from 5:30 to 10:30.  Also, although I don't usually report it, if I had completed the cleaning in the past, I would have re-cleaned the area until 12:00, but it's still good to go outside and move my body.  



実は、仕事で使っていた PCが 8月10日にダウンして以来、やりかけていた仕事が急に出来なくなって、鬱々としていましたが、その落ち込みはずっと軽くなりました。

Actually, ever since the PC I used for work went down on August 10th, I was suddenly unable to continue the work I had started, which had been depressing, but now I feel much less depressed.

更に、良い出会いもありました。
ウォーキングしていた年配の(僕より若い) 女性が近づいてきて、「いつも、ありがとうございます」と言ってくださったのですが。 そして女性の右手を見れば、中に小さな何かが入っているビニール袋が握られていて、「私も何か出来ないかと思って、タバコの吸い殻を拾っています」と言ってくださったのです。素敵な事です。そして、私達の周りには、率先して何気なくゴミを拾っている、一度もお目にかかった事のない人が大勢いらっしゃる事も知っています。そんな心の方と、今日、お会い出来たのです。

Furthermore, we had a good encounter.
 An elderly person walking (younger than me) approached me and said, "Thank you as always."  When I looked at the woman's right hand, she saw a plastic bag with something small inside, and she said, "I'm picking up a cigarette butt, thinking I can't do anything either."  It's a wonderful thing.  We also know that there are many people around us who have taken the initiative and casually picked up trash, who have never met before.  I met such a person today.

そして、次回の清掃エリアは、今回の清掃エリアの隣、外周路で最も土砂の堆積が多いコーナー（角）です。そんな土砂の上で、外周路に面して植えられた灌木が大きく茂り、外周路に覆いかぶさる様に育っている様子は無法地帯です。決して広いエリアではありませんが、少し苦労させられそうです。でも、頑張ります。

The next cleaning area is next to the current cleaning area, in the corner of the outer road with the most sediment. The shrubs planted facing the outer road have grown so large on the sediment that they hang over the road, creating a lawless area. It's not a large area, but it looks like it will be a bit of a challenge. But we'll do our best.

赤穂市交通公園 利用記録（8月12日）/ Ako City Traffic Park User Report "August 12th"

私達が昨年から 路面清掃を行なっている赤穂市の交通公園で、新しい利用者の方たちを見掛けましたので報告します。親子連れと思われる三人の方たちです。

We're reporting on some new visitors to Ako City's Traffic Park, where we've been cleaning the roads since last year. They were three people, likely a mother and her child.

この日は、路面清掃の作業日ではなく、偶々、街に買い物に出かけた際に見掛けたのですが、母親らしき方は初めて訪れた様子で公園内を歩いて見回し、男の子は乗り始めて間もない様子で自転車に乗り、男の子よりも小さな女の子は物珍しそうに公園内を歩き回っていました。

This wasn't a road cleaning day, but rather, I spotted them while I was out shopping in town. The mother, who appeared to be visiting for the first time, was walking around the park, looking around. The boy seemed to have just started riding a bicycle, and the younger girl was wandering around the park curiously.

きっと、近所にお住まいの方たちだと思いますが、お二人のお子様が一般道で安全に自転車に乗れる様になる為に、この公園を利用し続けて欲しいと願っています。その為にも、私達は公園の路面を安全にする清掃を続けていきますし、その価値は決して小さくはないと信じています。

I'm sure they are local residents, but I hope that their two children will continue to use this park so that they can ride their bicycles safely on public roads. To that end, we will continue to clean the park's roads to make them safe, and I believe that this is of great value.
