整備イベント「チェーン装着と撮影」/ Maintenance Event: "Chain Installation and Filming"

解説記事『チェーンとスプロケットの交換』の作成に向けて、今回は「チェーンの装着」の動画撮影と画像撮影を行ないました。解説の企画でなければ、さほど緊張もせず手間の掛かる作業ではなく、楽しみながら終わる作業ですが、撮影と記事作成の企画となると別物です。

For the creation of the explanatory article "Chain and Sprocket Replacement," we filmed and photographed the "chain installation" process. Normally, this wouldn't be a particularly stressful or time-consuming task; it would be enjoyable. However, with filming and article creation involved, it's a completely different story.

特に、動画の撮影は気を使います。 シーン毎に、リハーサルを行ない、カメラテストも行ない、それから テイク1を撮り、場合によっては テイク2 や テイク3 も行ない、その合間に 画像撮影 も必要になるので、いつもの整備とは違って、きっと 4倍ほどの時間は掛かっているでしょう。

Filming the video, in particular, requires careful attention. We rehearse each scene, conduct camera tests, shoot Take 1, and sometimes Take 2 or Take 3, while also needing to take still images in between. This takes about four times longer than a typical maintenance session.

でも、伝えたい事が伝わる記事や動画の作成には時間と労力が必要な事は充分に理解しています。特に、一般的な整備記事では決して書かれていない様な事を伝えようとしているので、慎重で丁寧な作り込みが欠かせません。

However, I fully understand that creating articles and videos that effectively convey what I want to communicate requires time and effort. Especially since I'm trying to convey things that are never written in typical maintenance articles, careful and meticulous work is essential.

オートバイの整備は “愛” を深める行為だと思っています。モノを言わない相手の構造や仕組みや心理を理解して、相手が一番大切にしている事やして欲しいケアに最大限の心を注ぎ込む行為が整備だと思っています。だから、そのケアを他の誰かに任せるのも悪くありませんが、可能な範囲で自分自身の手で行ないたいのです。

I believe that motorcycle maintenance is an act of deepening one's "love" for it. I believe that maintenance is the act of understanding the structure, mechanisms, and psychology of the unspoken entity, and pouring one's utmost care into what it values ​​most and what it wants most. Therefore, while it's not bad to entrust that care to someone else, I want to do it myself as much as possible.

そんな整備を伝えたいからこそ、解説記事の作成には情熱が必要になります。そして、一般的な整備解説書からは感じられない情熱が伝わる事を願っています。だから、綿密に作成したシナリオや台詞（せりふ）に合わせた撮影にはならない様にしています。そこに、個性や情熱が伝わる事を期待しての事です。

It's because I want to convey this kind of maintenance that passion is necessary when creating explanatory articles. And I hope that the passion that can't be felt in typical maintenance manuals comes through. Therefore, we avoid shooting strictly according to a meticulously crafted script or script. Our hope is that individuality and passion will come through.

今回は、特に “チェーンの最適な遊び調整” の動画と記事で、それらが伝わればいいな！という想いで撮影を行ないました。

This time, we filmed with the hope that this would come across in the video and article about "optimal chain slack adjustment."

もちろん（？）間違いもありました。手配していたリアのスプロケットが合わなかったり、チェーンのジョイント作業でプレートの圧入をし過ぎたりしました。記事作成の企画でなければ笑って済ませていたでしょうが、少し焦りました。

Of course (?), there were mistakes. The rear sprocket we had ordered didn't fit, and we over-pressed the chain joint plate. If it wasn't for the article project, we probably would have laughed it off, but it made us a little anxious.

同じ企画で整備イベントを何度も行なっているので、もう作業は済んだと思っている人も少なくないでしょう。でも、まだ残っています。「リアの社外製サスペンションユニットの装着」と「プリロード調整」、そして「 前後ホイールの整列」が残っています。更に、整備と撮影が終わってからが本番です。動画編集と記事の作成にご期待下さい。

Since we've done this maintenance event many times for this project, many people probably think the work is finished. But there's still more to do. We still need to install the aftermarket rear suspension unit, adjust the preload, and align the front and rear wheels.
