新世代と旧世代 / New Generations and Old Generations

2020年度から、全ての小中学生に一人1台の PC や タブレットを提供して、教育の現場でデジタル教材の活用を行なう【 GIGA スクール構想 】が始まった事は多くの人がご存知でしょう。 そして、2024年度から2028年度を対象に、【 NEXT GIGA 】として AI を活用した個別最適化学習や、教員が授業を設計しやすくするためのツールが導入され、デジタル教材のさらなる充実や多様化が図られて、児童生徒にとっては AI が身近な存在になり、最新の学習環境で学べるようになります。

この様な環境で育った生徒にとっては、数学や物理、英語や歴史、更には 芸術 の優れた先生であり 家庭教師 となるのは確実で、AI をどこまで活用できるかで 単に成績だけに留まらず、芸物や文学、絵画などの才能を飛躍的に伸ばす事が大いに期待されています。そして、この動きは全世界で同時に進んでいくので、今後10年も経たない内に “天才” と称される新時代の世代が注目される筈です。ですから、AI はおろか PC や タブレットさえ十分に学ばなかった世代にとっては、その様な全く新しい世代が社会の表舞台に登場する事を理解しておく必要があります。

As many of you may know, the GIGA School Initiative began in Japan in 2020, providing every elementary and junior high school student with a PC or tablet and promoting the use of digital learning materials in educational settings. Furthermore, from 2024 to 2028, the NEXT GIGA initiative will introduce AI-powered personalized learning and tools to help teachers design lessons. This will further enhance and diversify digital learning materials, making AI more accessible to students and enabling them to learn in a cutting-edge learning environment.

Students raised in such an environment are sure to become excellent teachers and tutors in mathematics, physics, English, history, and even the arts. The extent to which AI can be utilized is expected to dramatically improve not only academic performance but also talents in fields such as the arts, literature, and painting. This movement will unfold simultaneously around the world, and within the next decade, a new generation of people dubbed "geniuses" will surely be in the spotlight. Therefore, for generations who have yet to fully learn about AI, let alone PCs and tablets, it's important to understand that a completely new generation will be entering the social arena.

しかし、社会の大人たちの多くは、その世代が社会の主流に育つ事を予見せず、自身が育ってきた 昭和や平成初期の経験だけに固執しがちです。それは、一部の自治体で「スマホの使用時間を一日2時間以内を推奨」という 条例の可決など、家庭や社会、会社などの中でのルールに表れており、新世代にとって大きな障壁となっている事を理解する必要があります。 AI による社会変革は、単に企業の業務効率化だけに留まらず、社会のあらゆる場面で、人間の能力を伸ばす圧倒的な力のあるツールとして深く浸透していきますし、それは 全世界で同時に始まっている事です。

AI も無く、PC さえも無い時代に生きて育んできた 体験や知見は大切にすべきです。しかし、過去の常識を遥かに超えるスピードで伸びていく 新しい世代や才能の芽を摘み取る様な愚かな事は注意して慎むべきです。

However, many adults in society tend to cling solely to their own experiences, failing to foresee this generation becoming mainstream. This is reflected in rules within the home, society, and workplace, such as the passage of local government ordinances recommending smartphone use time of no more than two hours per day, and it's important to understand that this is a major barrier for this new generation. Social change brought about by AI will not simply improve business efficiency; it will deeply penetrate every aspect of society as a powerful tool for expanding human capabilities, and this is beginning simultaneously around the world.

The experiences and knowledge gained from living in an era without AI or even PCs should be cherished. However, we must be aware that it would be foolish to nip in the bud the new generation and talent that is growing at a speed far beyond what was previously considered normal.
