現在、解説記事「セルフステア ライディング」を制作中です。

「セルフステア」は、タイヤを確実にグリップさせて、速く、安全に走らせる為にオートバイに備わっている大切な機能です。 しかし、「セルフステア」に関するアンケート結果から、充分に理解されていない事がはっきりしたからです。

We are currently working on an explanatory article titled "Self-steer Riding".

"Self-steering" is an important function on motorcycles that allows the tires to grip the road securely and allows the rider to ride quickly and safely. However, the results of a survey on "self-steering" made it clear that it is not fully understood.
　　

「セルフステア」については、多くのライダーがある程度は知っていても、深くは理解せず、オートバイ走行のあらゆる場面で積極的に活用する事までは実践ていません。 記事では、それらを一つずつ、解説図を使いながら、分かり易く、詳しく解説する予定で、必ず参考になる点もあると思います。是非、ご期待ください。

Although many riders know about "self-steer" to some extent, they do not understand it deeply and do not actively use it in every situation when riding a motorcycle. 警官、来たる / Here comes the police!

先日、自宅に NPO法人の看板を設置したところ、早速、変化がありました。
二日後、警察官がやって来ました。 僕が住んでいる地域の駐在所勤務の方が、通常の確認の為の個別訪問でしたが、昨年お会いした時とは少し雰囲気が違い、笑顔が増えた気がしました。

The other day, I put up a sign for an NPO at my house, and immediately, something changed. Two days later, a police officer came. It was a normal one-on-one visit, but the atmosphere was a little different from when I met him last year, and I felt like there were more smiles.

次に、宅配便のドライバーの方の雰囲気も変わりました。以前よりも、積極的に話しかけてくれる様になりました。きっと、“看板” 効果の表われでしょう。
僕は、日常生活の中で、ほんの少しの事を変えるだけで、パラレルワールドに行けると信じているので、きっとそれが起きたのでしょう。次は何が起きるか、楽しみです。

交通公園清掃報告「白い花」/ Traffic Park Cleaning Report "White Flowers"

  
交通公園に白い花（ヒメジュオン）が至る所に咲いていました。路肩や縁石の上だけではなく、路面の割れ目からも咲いていました。昨年はこんなに咲いていなかったので、きっと、昨年、多くの草を根こそぎ抜いたので、植生が変化したのでしょう。でも、こんな華凜な花を観ると、直ぐに抜けません。抜くのは、花が咲き終わる次の機会にしました。
 
White flowers were blooming everywhere in Traffic Park. They weren't blooming this much last year, so I'm sure the vegetation changed after we uprooted a lot of the grass last year. But when I see such gorgeous flowers, I can't pull them out right away. I'll pull them out next time, after the flowers have finished blooming.
     

      
『 発掘作業 / Excavation 』
      
6月27日、赤穂市の交通公園の路面清掃を行ないました。今回も、公園の外周路清掃の続きでしたが、予想を超える “発掘” 作業でした。 路面の上に、暑さ 20㎝ を超える土砂が堆積していたのです。 堆積の様子から、この交通公園が経験してきた過酷な歴史が分かります。きっと、横を流れる川が何度も氾濫して、その度に土砂が堆積していったのでしょう。

On June 27th, we cleaned the road surface of Traffic Park in Ako City. This time, the "excavation" work was beyond our expectations. More than 20 cm of soil had accumulated on the road surface. The state of the accumulation shows the harsh history that this traffic park has experienced.
     

また、路面のひび割れも至る所にあって、そこから植物たちが伸び伸びと育っているのも深刻です。育つにつれて、舗装路面を崩していくからです。だから、小さい時から根こそぎ取り去る事が大切です。

It is also serious that plants are growing freely in the cracks in the road surface that are everywhere. As they grow, they destroy the paved road surface. That's why it is important to remove them by roots from a young age.
     

「草取り、大変ですね」と言って下さる人もいますが、草取り以上に、安全な練習環境の為に、路面の小石や砂の除去に一番気を遣って作業をしています。そして、今回の清掃エリアは 約 15㎡ で、未清掃の外周路はまだ多く残っています。これからも続けていきます。

Some people say that weeding is hard work, but more than weeding, we are most concerned with removing pebbles and sand from the surface of the track to ensure a safe practice environment. GRAは“支援” の塊です「広報」/ GRA is mass of Support "Publicity"

広報とは、社会との接点を拡げる活動の事です。GRAは、広報活動にも積極的に取り組み、それによって、多くのオートバイ専門誌から注目され、世界的な企業から支援や協賛を得て、数多くの多様なイベントを開催してきました。今回は、設立直後から広報活動の支援を積極的に行ない、広報の大切さを私に教えてくれた方々を紹介します。

GRA has been actively engaged in public relations activities, attracting attention from many motorcycle magazines and receiving support from global companies, and has held many diverse events. This time, I would like to introduce the people who have been actively supporting GRA's public relations activities since its establishment and have taught me the importance of public relations.
  

■ デザイン＆コピーライター / Designer & Copywriter
    
K君は、GRAを設立した 1991年からイベントに参加し始めて、いつの間にか、広報の仕事にも自ら積極的に係わってくれた方です。

Mr. K started participating in events in 1991 when GRA was founded, and has been actively involved in public relations work himself.
   

   
彼が得意としたのは、イベントを告知するリリース資料・パンフレットの作成です。当初から、自ら描いたイラストを挿入したり、イラストレーターにイラストを手配して、文書やキャッチコピーも考えて、GRAのロゴマークや ”ジムカーナ坊や” （通称）を作成してくれました。彼のお蔭で、ダンロップを始めとする企業の協賛が得られ、ホンダからは練習イベント専用施設の提供や鈴鹿サーキットを始めとする会場でのイベント運営の機会を得る事が出来ました。そして、彼が 10年以上に亘って作成してくれたパンフレットの枚数は 200枚近くになり、お蔭様で GRAの存在と理念を社会に広く広げる事が出来ました。ありがとうございました。

He is good at creating release materials and pamphlets to announce events. From the beginning, he inserted illustrations he drew himself, arranged for illustrations to be drawn by illustrators, thought up documents and catchphrases, and created the GRA logo and "Gymkhana Boy" (nickname). Thanks to him, we were able to obtain sponsorship from companies such as Dunlop, and we were able to get the opportunity to manage events at various venues including the Suzuka Circuit from Honda. Over the last 10 years, he has created nearly 200 pamphlets, helping to spread the existence and philosophy of GRA throughout society. Thank you very much.
           

そんな K君の後を継いで デザイン＆コピーライターの仕事を担当してくれたのが、T君 と Sさんです。 T君は 公式Webサイトに掲載されている コラム記事のタイトル画像やコピーの制作をしてくれ、Sさんは、コラム記事用の タイトルデザインを各種作成してくれた他に、現在の GRAロゴをデザインしてくれました。ありがとうございました。作成してくれたコンテンツは大切に利用していきます。

Mr. T and Ms. S took over the role of designer and copywriter after Mr. K. Mr. T created the title images and copy for the columns on the official website, and Ms. S created various title designs for the columns, as well as the current GRA logo. Thank you very much. 写真（画像）の大切さを教えてくれたのは H君です。 彼は 1992年からイベントに参加していたのですが、ある日、「これ、よかったら使ってください」と言って、イベントで撮影したフィルムと撮影した写真（紙焼き）を全てセットで渡してくれたのです。

It was Mr. H who taught me the importance of photography (images). He had been participating in events since 1992, and one day he gave me a set of the film he had taken at the event and the photos (prints) he had taken, saying, "You can use these if you like."
   

   
そのお蔭で、協賛各社への報告書や マスコミ各社へのリリース、そして参加者への配布などに活用する事が出来ました。それ以来、10年以上に亘り、彼が参加するイベントでは撮影を依頼する様になり、使用したフィルムの本数は軽く 100本を超えていたでしょう。ありがとうございました。お蔭様で、多くの専門誌で採り上げられ、多くの協賛会社にも恵まれ、今も、当時のイベント活動の様子を多くの人に伝える事が出来ています。

デジタルカメラが普及し始めた2004年頃からは、画像をデータで送信する手段も一般的になり、多くの方々から、各地でイベント開催をする度に画像データの提供を頂戴する様になりました。ありがとうございます。今も、そのデータは全て保存して、公式Webサイトなど、GRAの活動を拡げる為に活用させて戴いています。その全ての方々の紹介は割愛させて戴きますが、改めてお礼を申し上げます。

Since around 2004, when digital cameras started to become popular, many people have provided us with image data from events we held. Thank you very much. Even now, we are saving all of that data and using it to expand GRA's activities, such as on our official website. I will not introduce all of those people, but I would like to thank them once again.

子どもが、生まれました / A Baby was Born.

良い知らせです。今朝、子どもが生まれました。
明け方から、僕のベッドの横で、大きな声でないています。
寝室の窓の近くにある、コシアカツバメの巣の中から鳴いています。
決して、僕の子どもでありません。念の為に。

Good news. A baby was born this morning.
It has been making a loud noise since the early hours of the morning, next to my bed.
It is singing from the nest of a red-rumped swallow near the bedroom window.
It is definitely not my baby. Just to be sure.
    

   
昨年も、コシアカツバメのカップルはやって来ました。
けれど、近所のスズメたちに建築中のマイホームを壊され、彼女は去り、彼一人だけが巣の近くで「彼女募集中」とさえずり続けていたました。
しかし、今年はこれで一安心です。

Last year, a pair of red-rumped swallows came too.
However, the sparrows in the neighborhood destroyed my house under construction, and she left, leaving him alone near the nest, singing "I'm looking for a girlfriend."
But this year, I can finally relax.
      

  
鳥たちの朝はとても早いです。
明けきらない内からさえずり始め、親鳥は雛たちの食事の為に、頻繁に出入りします。
二人で交替しながら、30秒たらずから 3分間程の間隔で通っています。
その度に、巣の中の雛たちは一斉に鳴き叫びます。
これから 約3週間、僕の朝も、いやおうなしに早くなりそうです。

The birds have a very early morning.
They start singing before dawn, and the parents frequently go in and out to feed their chicks.
They take turns going in and out at intervals of less than 30 seconds to about 3 minutes.
Each time they do this, the chicks in the nest all cry out in unison.
For the next three weeks or so, my mornings will inevitably get earlier.
    

看板、出来ました / The sign is done

はい、以前お伝えしていた「看板」作り、やっと完成しました。
20ヶ月前に構想し、必要な材料を手配して、それから1年以上放置していました。

Hey there! So, remember that 'sign' I mentioned ages ago? Well, I finally finished it! Can you believe it? I came up with the idea 20 months ago, gathered all the materials, and then just let it sit for over a year.
　　

    
いえ、難しい事は何もありませんでした。
いや、決して忙しかったからでは、ない筈です。
きっと、気が乗らなかった、集中出来なかったからです。

Honestly, it wasn’t anything complicated. And no, it’s not like I was super busy or anything. I just wasn’t feeling it and couldn’t focus, you know?
　

     
なぜか？ 今日は「その気」が生まれて、
午後から作成に着手して、ようやく架台に設置しました。
少し大げさな話に聞こえるでしょうが、少し変わりそうです。
体調も一枚、ラッピングがクリアになった気がします。

さあ、仕事を始めます。

But guess what? Today, out of nowhere, I suddenly got the motivation! I dove into it this afternoon and finally set it up on the stand. I know it sounds a bit dramatic, but it feels like a little transformation is happening. I even feel like my mood has lifted a notch!

交通公園清掃報告「自転車の子供達」/ Traffic Park Cleanup Report "Children on Bicycles"

昨年の4月にも、交通公園で子供達が自転車の練習する場面に遭遇しましたが、その時はまだ一部しか清掃できていなくて、自転車のタイヤが路面の小石や砂利をはじく音が間断なくしていました。しかし、今回は違いました。
     
Last April, I encountered children practicing bicycle riding at Traffic Park, but at that time, only a part of the park had been cleaned, and the sound of bicycle tires hitting pebbles and gravel on the road was continuous. However, this time was different.
    

    
作業が終わる頃、公園で子供達が自転車の練習を始めたのですが、小石の音もせず、子供達の大きな声だけが響き、観ていても去年よりずっと安心出来たのです。これからも、清掃エリアを広げていきます。

When the work was finished, children started practicing bicycle riding in the park, and there was no sound of pebbles, only the loud voices of the children echoed, and watching them was much more reassuring than last year.
  

今回（6/21）も、外周路の清掃でした。今回のエリアも公園外縁部から土砂が流入して、草たちも侵入して、舗装の継ぎ目を広げている場所です。草たちが繁るのを抑える為にも、土砂と一緒に、草も根こそぎ除去が欠かせません。

The area cleaned on June 21st was also an area where soil and sand had flowed in from the outer edge of the park, and grass had also invaded, widening the joints in the pavement. In order to prevent the grass from growing, it is essential to remove the grass by the roots along with the soil and sand.
     

   
   

     

今回の清掃出来たのは 約 15 ㎡ で、次回に予定しているエリアは 更に土砂と草たちが侵入していますが、少しずつですが、着実に進めて行きます。

清掃活動「良い光景です」/ Cleaning activity "A Beautiful Sight"

本日（6/21）、清掃活動を行なっている 赤穂市の交通公園で、久し振りに自転車に乗る子供達に出逢いました。 祖母の方に連れられて公園に入って来た彼らは、大きな声を出しながら元気に走り回っていました。 本当に、良い光景です。

Today, at the traffic park in Ako City where we are carrying out our cleaning activities, we encountered some children riding bicycles for the first time in a while. They entered the park accompanied by their grandmother and ran around energetically, shouting loudly. It was really a beautiful sight.
     

      
昨年の4月、祖父に連れられた二人の子供達が自転車の練習を始めた場面にも遭遇しましたが、路面にはたくさんの小石や砂利があって、走る度に小石がはじける音が間断なくして、観ていても可哀相に感じたものです。でも、今日はしませんでした。本当に、良い光景です。

【 旋回モーメント / Turning Moment 】

オートバイのタイヤは自転車と較べて太く、バンクさせた時に接地面がトレッドの中央部からバンクさせた側へと大きく移動します。そして、この接地面の移動が旋回モーメントを生み、前輪の向きを変える力となり、オートバイの旋回力の最大の要素になっています。

When the bike is banked, the contact surface moves significantly from the center of the tread to the side where it is banked. This movement of the contact surface creates a turning moment, which becomes the force that changes the direction of the front wheel and is the largest factor in the turning force of a motorcycle.

   
    

【 バンキングブレーキ / Lean Brake 】
    
オートバイのタイヤでは、トレッド上の周速（速度）は中央部と端部とでは異なり、端部になる程に周速は低くなります。つまり、直立状態からバンクさせた瞬間、周速の違いから、必ずブレーキングが生まれます。そして、このブレーキングによって、旋回モーメントも大きくなります。

In motorcycle tires, the circumferential speed on the tread is different between the center and the edge, and the circumferential speed is lower at the edge. In other words, the moment you lean from an upright position, braking will always occur due to the difference in circumferential speed. This braking also increases the turning moment.
   

   
     
【 接地面形状 / Contact Patch Shape 】
     　
バンク角が大きくなる程に、接地面は前後に長くなります。そして、長くなる程に前輪の向きが変わり難くなります。つまり、バンクさせた状態でハンドル操作を行なう事は、タイヤの自然な状態を無視する事になり、グリップの喪失を招きます。

The greater the lean angle, the longer the contact patch. And the longer it is, the harder it is to change the direction of the front wheels. In other words, steering while leaning ignores the natural state of the tires, which leads to a loss of grip.

トラ君、分解整備します / Tora-kun, disassembly and maintenance

昨日（6/17）、トラ君の継続車検は無事に終了しました。終わってみれば、さほど難しい事ではないのですが、20歳過ぎにあったトラウマの影響か、適切な車両整備と法的な検査業務の祖語はいつになっても慣れません。

とは言っても、良い事もたくさんありました。それは、人々の温かさです。事務手続きで対応している方々や、車検に車両を持ち込んでいる ユーザーや業者の方々と、世間話を含めた何気ない会話が笑顔で出来たのです。神戸の時には無かった事です。2年後の車検にはもう少し気楽に臨めそうです。

Yesterday, Tora-kun's periodic inspection was successfully completed. In retrospect, it wasn't that difficult, but perhaps due to the trauma I experienced in my early 20s, I still can't get used to the basics of proper vehicle maintenance and legal inspection work.

But there were also a lot of good things. That's the warmth of the people. I was able to have casual conversations, including small talk, with smiles on my face with the people who were handling the paperwork, and the users and dealers who brought their cars in for inspection. That wasn't the case in Kobe. I think I'll be able to approach the inspection in two years' time a little more relaxed.
     

しかし、トラ君は何とかしなくてはなりません。前回の車検時に乗ってから丸2年間、完全に放置状態だったので、トラ君がスネているとしても不思議ではありませんが、少し酷過ぎます。路面フィールが充分に伝わって来なくて、バンク特性が左右で異なるのです。引越し搬送した際、避けられないストレスが車体に残っているのは間違いありません。また、部品と部品との間の潤滑も充分では無いのでしょう。それらが、サスペンションのフリクション感の増大に繋がって、平滑な路面でさえ、充分な路面フィールが感じられないのでしょう。

だから、分解整備をします。エンジンマウントに始まり、前後サスペンション関連部品を、一旦、分解、取り外して、清掃と給脂を行ない、部品を1点ずつ、アライメントを取りながら、適切な順番と適正トルクで組み立てていきます。その後で、タイヤの皮を 2～3枚 剥いでやれば、きっと変わるでしょう。その時は、また報告します。

However, something has to be done about Tora-kun. It's been two whole years since I last drove it for the inspection, so it's not surprising that Tora-kun is sulking, but this is a bit too much. The road feel is not transmitted well, and the banking characteristics are different on the left and right. There is no doubt that the body is left with unavoidable stress from the move. Also, the lubrication between the parts is probably not sufficient. This leads to an increase in the friction of the suspension, and even on smooth roads, the road feel is not felt well.

So I'm going to disassemble and maintain it. Starting with the engine mount, I will disassemble and remove the front and rear suspension-related parts, clean and grease them, and assemble each part while aligning them. After that, I'm sure if I peel off two or three layers of tire leather, it will make a difference. I'll report back when that happens.

交通公園清掃活動「ありがとうございます」/ Road Cleaning Report "I appreciate you"

赤穂市の交通公園の路面清掃活動を始めて 15ヶ月が経ち、今年に入ってから、実際に講習に使われる機会が増えてきました。今日も、お二人が利用されているのを観る事が出来ました。 ありがとうございます。路面清掃を行なっていく気持ちが更に高まりました。

It has been 15 months since we started cleaning the roads at the Traffic Park in Ako City, and since the beginning of this year, the park has been used more and more for training purposes. Today, I was able to see the two of you using the park. I appreciate you. This has made me even more motivated to continue cleaning the roads.
　　

   
清掃を始めた頃より、路面状況は確実に安全になってはいますが、まだ清掃できていないエリアは多く残っていますし、清掃した後の路面コンディションは徐々に悪化していくのが常です。微力ですが、路面清掃で、より多くの人の安全や楽しみに貢献していきますので、今後共にご期待ください。

Although the road conditions have definitely become safer since we started cleaning, there are still many areas that have not been cleaned, and the road conditions tend to gradually deteriorate after cleaning. GRAは“支援”の塊です「機材管理」/ GRA is a mass of support "Equipment management"

1991年、GRAを発足させて以来、イベント開催に必要な機材の殆どは事務局で保管していませんでした。参加した人達の “支援” があったからこそ、年間40回を超えるイベントを開催する事ができたのです。

Since GRA was established in 1991, most of the equipment needed to hold events was not stored by the secretariat. It was only thanks to the "support" of the participants that we were able to hold more than 40 events a year.

        

本格的なイベントの開催になる程に使用する機材は増えるものです。そして、そんな多量の機材の保管と搬入は運営事務局が行なうのが一般的です。しかし、GRAはそれを行なわず、イベントに参加した人達が、自発的に、分担して持ち帰り、保管して、次の参加機会に搬入する【機材・共有持ち帰り制】に頼っていました。持ち帰っても何の特別の待遇はなく、全く見返りを求めない支援で支え続けられたのです。そして、一番心残りな事は、支援して下さった数多くの方々の名前を全く把握していなかった事です。ありがとうございました。今でも、深くふかく感謝しています。

The storage and delivery of the large amount of equipment used at events is usually done by the management office. However, GRA did not do this, and instead relied on a "shared equipment take-home system" in which people who participated in the event voluntarily shared the equipment, took it home, stored it, and brought it to the next time they participated. We continued to be supported by support that asked for nothing in return. And what I regret most is that I never kept track of the names of the many people who supported us. Thank you very much. ■ ゼッケン / Bib Number ■

最も心に残っている一つが「ゼッケン」です。前回紹介した Oさんのご支援によって、1番から150番 まで、150枚のゼッケンを使用していました。 それらは、誰かの手配で 3つのコンテナケースにまとめられ、イベント最後に全員が集合した際、「持ち帰ってくれる人はいませんか？」と尋ね、次のイベントに参加する予定の人々が オートバイのリアシートに載せて持ち帰ってくれたのです。 が、それ以上に素晴らしい支援があったのです。それは洗濯です。 汗や雨などの汚れがあると、必ず、誰かが洗濯して、乾かして、1枚ずつアイロンがけしてくれたのです。その上、切れた紐を補修したり、次に洗濯する人への「メッセージ」をゼッケン用のコンテナに入れてくれているのです。 決して簡単に出来る事ではありません。ありがとうございました。お蔭様で、数多くのイベントを着実に開催する事が出来ました。

The thing that remains in my heart the most is the "bib number". The 150 bibs were packed into three container cases, and when everyone gathered at the end of the event, we asked, "Is there anyone who would like to take them home?" and those who were planning to participate in the next event took them home on their motorcycles. But there was even more wonderful support. And that was washing them. Whenever they got dirty from sweat or rain, someone always washed them, dried them, and ironed them. They also repaired broken strings and put a "message" in the container cases for the next person who would be washing them. This is by no means an easy thing to do. Thank you very much. ■ 救急医療セット / Emargency Medical Kits ■

運営事務局としては恥ずかしい話ですが、転倒などによる怪我の応急措置に必要な「救急医療セット」はいつからあったのか把握していません。知らない内に、誰かが、必要な機材を購入して、イベント会場に搬入してくれて、そして誰かが自発的に持ち帰り、時には、不足している処置材などを追加で購入補充してくれて、徐々に立派な救急セットになりました。 ゼッケン用のコンテナケースと同様に、購入した備品の領収書の清算は イベント開催時の「会計係」が行なうシステムになっていたとはいえ、緊急搬送が必要な事態に備えて、開催会場ごとに最寄の病院名や連絡先を書きとめたファイルも同封されていました。そんな人達の心遣いのお蔭で、転倒負傷者に速やかな対応が出来ました。ありがとうございました。
  
I don't know when the "emergency medical kit" started, but someone would buy the necessary equipment, bring it to the event venue, and then someone would take it home on their own accord, and sometimes they would buy and replenish the treatment materials that were in short supply, and it gradually became a fine emergency kit. In addition, a file with the name and contact information of the nearest hospital for each venue was even enclosed. ■ 受付器材セット / Reception Equipment Set ■

実際の画像はありませんが、「受付セット」も、誰かが必要な機材を手配してコンテナケースにまとめてくれて、それを多くの人がオートバイに積んで持ち帰り、また次のイベント開催時に搬入してくれた事は忘れていません。お蔭様で、いつもイベントを安心して始める事が出来ました。

For the "reception equipment set," someone also arranged for the necessary equipment and packed it in a container case, and many people loaded it on their motorcycles to take it home and bring it back to the next event. Thanks to them, we were always able to start the event with peace of mind.
   
    
■ 光電管セット / Mesuring Equipment Set ■

イベントでタイム計測する際は、1/1000秒まで計測できる機器、通称「光電管セット」を使用します。ジュラルミン製のケースに納められていて、重量も軽くはないので、オートバイでの搬送・持ち帰りは無理がありますので、オートバイを車に積んで参加する方々の支援を受けていました。画像の通り、2セット所有しているので、きっと、持ち帰って保管している方達の間で都合を図りながら、イベント開催時には必ず搬入される様になっていたと思います。ありがとうございました。お蔭様で、いつも正確な計測を行なえました。
 
At the event, we use equipment that can measure to 1/1000th of a second. It is stored in a case made of duralumin and is not light, so we received support from people who loaded their motorcycles into their cars to participate. Since we have two sets, I'm sure that the people who took them home and stored them were able to arrange it so that they would always be brought in when the event was held. Thank you very much. ■ パイロン / Pylon ■

イベントでは必須と言える機材です。走行コースを作成するのに欠かせないのがパイロンで、発足当初は、開催会場に備え付けのパイロンを使用したり、前述の Oさんが自ら手配して搬入して下さった事もありましたが、やはり、事務局が手配した方が安定したイベント開催が出来ると判断して、購入する事になりました。そして、ここでも支援をして下さった方々に恵まれました。オートバイを車で搬入した方々が、10本 か 20本単位で持ち帰って保管して下さったのです。そして、数多くのイベントを全国各地で開催する様になるにつれて、保管して下さっている方にそれらのイベントへの搬入を期待する事は出来ないので、より多くのパイロンを購入して、より多くの方々に保管してもらう方法へと変わりました。そして、最終的には、全国各地で合計 200本を超えるパイロンの保管を依頼するに至っていました。 ありがとうございました。嵩張るにも関わらず、きちんと保管し続けて下さった事に感謝しています。

Pylons are essential for creating a course to run on. At the beginning, we sometimes used pylons that were installed at the venue, but we decided that the event would be more stable if the secretariat arranged them, so we decided to purchase them. And here too, we were blessed with people who supported us. Participants who brought their motorcycles by car took them home in groups of 10 or 20 and stored them. Then, as we began to hold many events all over the country, we changed to purchasing even more pylons and having more people store them, and eventually we ended up asking for storage of more than 200 pylons in total all over the country. Thank you very much. We are grateful that you continued to store them properly despite their bulkiness.
     
    
■ パソコンセット / Computer Set ■

1/1000秒まで計測した結果を、リザルト表にまとめて、イベント終了時には参加者全員に配布するには「パソコンセット」は欠かせませんが、これも、運営事務局では一切手配も管理もした事はありません。当初は、いずれ紹介しますが、有志の方が、自身のパソコンセット（プリンターやマウス込み）を搬入して使用して下さいましたが、その後、寄贈された品を活用していました。 そして、このパソコンセットも、イベントに参加した方々が自発的に持ち帰って保管し、次の機会に搬入して下さったお蔭で、立派なリザルトを残す事が出来ました。ありがとうございました。

A "computer set" is essential for compiling the measurement results in a table and distributing them to all participants at the end of the event, but the management office has never arranged or managed this at all. Volunteers brought in and used their own computer sets (including printers and mice), and then used the donated items. And thanks to the people who participated in the event voluntarily taking these computer sets home and storing them, and bringing them back the next time, we were able to achieve a great result. ■ 最後に / Finally ■

ここまでに紹介した機材以外にも、イベント開催では様々な機材を使用しました。「ハンドマイク」や「トランシーバー」「簡易組み立て式テーブル」なども、オートバイのリアシートや積載車で持ち帰って、保管して下さった事も忘れてはいません。お蔭様で、数多くのイベントを開催したにも関わらず、事務局にとっての負担は最小限に保つ事ができました。そんな支援をして下さった数多くの方々の名前は把握できていないので紹介する事は出来ませんが、改めてお礼を申し上げます。ありがとうございました。

交通公園清掃報告「鳥たちの公園」/ Traffic Park Cleaning Report "Birds' Park"

気温と雨量が増す6月は、植物たちが一斉に伸びる季節です。 交通公園の植物たちも、一度清掃した場所から、路面の間隙を縫う様に、再び葉をあちこちで茂らせています。清掃作業とイタチごっこですが、昨年の同時期よりも間違いなく安全に走れます。

June is the season when plants grow all at once. The plants in Traffic Park are also growing leaves here and there from the gaps in the road surface that were once cleaned. However, it is definitely safer to run on than the same time last year.

6月13日、赤穂市の交通公園で清掃活動を行なった場所は、上の画像と同じ、公園周辺の草地から草や土砂が侵入している外周路です。

On June 13th, we cleaned up Traffic Park in Ako City, on the outer perimeter road where grass and soil have invaded from the grasslands around the park.

今回の清掃エリアの一部は、昨年、既に清掃を終えていた箇所も含まれますが、草や土砂の進入を防ぐ事は容易ではありません。しかし、繰り返し続けるしかないでしょう。

Part of the cleaning area this time includes areas that had already been cleaned last year, but it is not easy to prevent grass and soil from entering. However, we have no choice but to keep repeating it.

公園は鳥たちの姿や声であふれています。頭上では、終始、ヒバリがさえずり続け、対岸の山からは ウグイスたちが美声を届けてくれ、名前を知らない鳥たちが頭上を横切っていきます。 カラスたちは虫たちを探して草地の上を歩き回り、公園の横を流れる川の浅瀬ではサギたちも見掛けます。しかし、5月末、巣作りで忙しそうに飛び交っていた ツバメたちは見掛けませんでした。きっと、巣の内装仕上げか、抱卵に入っているのかも知れません。7月、子供を連れた彼らの姿が見れる事を願っています。

Birds are close at hand in the park. Skylarks continue to sing overhead, Japanese bush warblers deliver beautiful voices from the mountains on the opposite bank, and birds whose names I don't know fly overhead. However, I did not see the swallows that were busy flying around building nests at the end of May. They may be finishing the interior of their nests or incubating eggs. I hope to see them with their children in July.

［キャスター角］は、一番目立つので良く知られた要素ですが、AI でさえも「直進安定性を高める」という誤った回答をするほど、多くの人が誤解しています。 しかし、過大な角度を想定すると、キャスターの特性や素性の理解は広まると思います。
 
"Caster angle" is the most visible and well-known factor, but many people misunderstand it, to the point that even AI incorrectly answers that it "improves straight-line stability." I think that assuming an excessive angle will broaden understanding of the characteristics and properties of caster.

夢に出てきた少年 / The Boy in my Dream

昨日の朝、夢を見ました。少し変わった少年が出てきた夢でした。
どんなメッセージなのか判りませんが、僕の生活スタイルは変わりました。

Yesterday morning, I had a dream. A slightly unusual boy appeared in the dream.
I don't know what the message was, but my lifestyle has changed.

昨日は、トライアンフの車検の日でした。車両の整備と確認走行を済ませ、書類も整えていました。けれど、前日の夕方から、心臓の発作が始まりました。だから、‘血栓’ を避ける為にベッドに入りました。予約日は雨の予報でした。でも、自走で車検に行く気持ちに変わりはありませんでした。

Yesterday was the day for my Triumph's inspection. I had finished the maintenance and prepared the paperwork, but the heart attack started the evening before. So I went to bed to avoid a 'blood clot'. Rain was forecast for the appointment day. But I still wanted to drive to the inspection by myself.

その少年は、ビルの 4階 にある事務所の前で、立っていた僕の左手を強く握ってきました。見た事がある様な色白の顔立ちで、じっと僕を見つめてきました。そして、少年に引っ張られる様にして、一緒に階段を下りて行きました。1階まで下りて、人込みの中で少年とはぐれた後、何故か、もう一度 4階まで上がりました。しかし、事務所は無くなり、別の店に代わっていました。

The boy held my left hand tightly as I stood on the fourth floor of the building where the office was. He had a pale face and stared at me. Then, the boy led me down the stairs. After going down to the first floor and getting separated from the boy in the crowd, for some reason I went up to the fourth floor again. However, the office was gone and had been replaced by another store.

12時間が経ち、発作はようやく収まりました。夜半から降り出した雨は、さらに強く降りそうな雰囲気でした。それから、4時間ほど ベッドで過ごし、予約のキャンセルの手配をしました。その日は、発作で残っている身体の影響を取り除く為に、終日、療養に努めました。
少年のメッセージの意味は判りませんが、以前までの僕だったら、間違いなく車検に向かっていたでしょう。僕の生活スタイルは変わりましたが、悔いはありません。必ず、より良い人生に変わっていくと信じています。
　　
After 12 hours, the attack finally subsided. The rain that had started falling at midnight seemed to be getting stronger. After that, I spent about four hours in bed and arranged to cancel the appointment. I spent the whole day recuperating to remove the remaining physical effects of the attack.
I don't know what the boy's message meant, but if it were me before, I would definitely have gone to get my car inspected. My lifestyle has changed, but I have no regrets. I believe that my life will definitely change for the better.

ハードだった帰省旅 / A Tough Trip Home

先日（5/31）、兄への手土産を持って帰省してきました。身体的な負荷を掛けたくて、帰省旅の一部を自転車にしていますが、今回は予想以上にハードな旅になりました。

On May 31, I went home to bring a gift for my brother. I wanted to put some physical strain on myself, so I usually do part of my trips home by bicycle, but this one was a lot tougher than I expected.

帰省するには山々が連なる県境を越す必要がありますが、いつもより負荷を大きくしたいと考えて、いつも下車している駅よりも手前の駅で下車する事にしました。しかし、それによって別の県境も越える必要が生まれたのです。

To get home, I had to cross a mountainous prefectural border, but I wanted to put more strain on myself than usual, so I decided to get off at a station earlier than the one I usually get off at. However, this meant that I had to cross another prefectural border.

以前は、標高 200ｍ を過ぎた駅で下車して、標高 430ｍ の峠を越えていたのですが、下車駅を変更して、今回は 標高 130ｍからスタートして、峠を 二つ超える事にしました。しかも、風速 5～8ｍ の向かい風もあり、僕にとってはハードな挑戦になりました。

Previously, I got off at a station past an altitude of 200m and crossed a pass at an altitude of 430m, but this time I changed the station where I got off, started at an altitude of 130m, and crossed two passes. However, there was a headwind of 5 to 8m, so it was a hard challenge for me.

しかし、自転車の旅はいいものです。景色や風土を眺めながら、自分の身体と心に合せたペースで走れて、いつも自然の中に居る事が感じられるからです。

But bicycle trips are good. You can ride at a pace that suits your body and mind while taking in the scenery and the climate, and you can always feel like you are in nature.

兄は、前回会った時よりも元気そうで、色々な話も出来ました。そして、手土産にした器具を使っての百歳体操にも付き合ってくれて、前回よりも、多くのエクササイズに挑戦してくれました。また、6月にも帰省します。 雨さえ降らなければ、今回の走行ルートに再び挑戦します。 兄よりも多く体調を回復させるのが目標です。

My brother seemed healthier than the last time I saw him, and we were able to talk about a lot of things. He also joined me in doing centenarian exercises using the equipment I had brought as a gift, and tried more exercises than last time. I will be going back home again in June. As long as it doesn't rain, I will try the same route again. My goal is to recover more than my brother.
